What is Rounders England?
Rounders England is the sport's governing body in England, supported by Sport England.
Based in Sheffield it provides a structure for the sport from the Board, county associations and clubs right the way through to individual members and volunteers.
What Does Rounders England Do?
Rounders England are responsible for the management and training of the England squads and work alongside the other home national governing bodies to provide competition opportunities.
Rounders England also co-ordinates a development network that provides a pathway for aspiring players to progress from schools and clubs to the national squad.
In addition, we provide information about the game, run coaching and umpiring courses, tournaments, sell resources and promote the sport at all levels.
It is our primary objective to get more people playing Rounders more often – especially women over the age of 16.
Why Play Rounders?
When you ask people about Rounders it brings a smile, revisiting memories of a fun, team sport they played at school. But Rounders is for everyone - schools, universities and colleges, adults, families and even a great activity for corporate away days.
We all remember playing Rounders from our schooldays and most people have fond memories of hot summer days spent on the sports field singing ‘Rounder, Rounder, Rounder’ as a team mate sprints around the 4 posts to victory.
Who would have thought that trying to hit a hard ball as far as you can with a small round bat could be so much fun?
As you ponder the nostalgia, here are a few Rounders facts;
Did you know that..
Traditionally the Rounders season runs from March to October, however Rounders England has now developed an indoor version of the game so that it can be enjoyed at a competitive level all year round.
The initial appeal of Rounders is that:
The majority of people that start to play as an adult have not played since leaving school and local teams are always welcoming and happy for new players to join them, regardless of ability!
If you fancy getting fit and reviving the fun experiences from your childhood, contact Rounders England to find out about joining a team.
