Disability Sport: FDSO Awards

npower Disability Sports Awards 2010

Get your nominations in for this year`s npower Disability Sports Awards, which take place on Friday 19th March at Leeds United Football Club.

Nominations are invited in the following categories:

Young Achiever (Boy)
Applies to boys aged 18 and under at 31st December 2009 and includes individuals who have attained a particular standard at club level or regional competition.

Young Achiever (Girl)
Applies to girls aged 18 and under at 31st December 2009 and includes individuals who have attained a particular standard at club level or regional competition.

School of the Year
Applies to schools in the region who participate in a wide range of sports activities and who actively encourage their pupils whatever their ability.  This is not necessarily the school who wins the most medals or trophies.

Gary Hayton Memorial Trophy
A memorial trophy in acknowledgement of outstanding athletic achievement by a junior performer.  Applies to young athletes aged 18 and under at 31st December.

Sportsman of the Year
Awarded to the sportsman who has achieved success at local, national and international level during the last year.

Sportswoman of the Year
Awarded to the sportswoman who has achieved success at local, national and international level during the year.

The Baroness Masham Wheelchair Performer Award
Awarded to the sportsperson who has achieved success in wheelchair sport.

The Regan Cooper Team of the Year
Applies to club, county and regional teams of two or more players achieving notable standard of performance.

Coach of the Year
Applies to coaches who have made a significant contribution to improving standards of performance.  An emphasis will be placed on nominations for coaches with disabilities.

Service to Sport
Applies to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of sport and demonstrated a strong commitment to raising the profile of sport and disability.

Cyril Villiers Governing Body Award
A commemorative trophy made in acknowledgement of a commitment to the development of sport for disabled people by a governing body of sport.

npower Community Award
An award to acknowledge support given to disability sport by a company or organisation.

Volunteer of the Year
An award recognising the voluntary contributions of an individual/group or an organisation in the support of sport for people with a disability.

To make your nomination, simply download the nomination form by clicking here.  All relevant nominations that were short listed for the 2009 South Yorkshire Sports Awards will be automatically entered into these awards.

The closing date for all applications is Wednesday 17th February 2010.

Tickets are also available for the awards evening, which itakes place on Friday 19th March 2010 at Leeds United Football Club.  Tickets cost £19.50 each, and includes a three course meal and awards presentation.
