Talent Identification
Talent identification concentrates on the most effective way of assessing the abilities of those participating in Schools and Clubs.
Players will be selected by coaches and teachers to attend talent identification sessions for under 12, 13, 14 and 15 players. These sessions will take place in January.
Talent Development
Talent development in South Yorkshire is for those young people identified through the method above as having talent and ability in Rugby League. Here players will receive additional training and assessment.
Players selected to take part in the talent development scheme will be invited to regional coaching sessions held February - May. They will then compete against other regions in the Rugby League Service Area Games.
What is the Service Area?
The Service Area is represented by sides at Under 12`s, 13`s, 14`s, 15`s and 18`s age groups. These sides are made up of the best players from all amateur clubs and Schools in the South Yorkshire area. This in turn benefits local clubs when players return from the Service Area sides as they have played with and against a better standard of player, therefore this is likely to improve performance at club level.
The aim of the Service Area is to provide a structure which enables all groups involved with Rugby League within the South Yorkshire area to work together and in partnership with other agencies toward the common goal of developing Rugby League.
Currently the South Yorkshire Service Area is working in partnership with South Yorkshire Sport, Local Authorities, School Sport Partnerships, Doncaster Lakers & Sheffield Eagles, Local Amateur Clubs, South Yorkshire and East Midlands Referee`s Society, RFL Coach Education, and all Coaches, Players and Volunteers involved with Rugby league in South Yorkshire.
