Talent Identification
Talent identification activity in South Yorkshire takes place each season and allows club and school players to be identified and invited to a local assessment programme held at one of the club venues. The assessment consists of two days (at least five hours) of coaching and game play, allowing external assessors to select the players to be fed into Stage Four.

Talent Development
From the talent identification assessments, approximately thirty players at each age group will be invited to attend four hockey development sessions, where they will receive high quality coaching.

Players will learn elements of game play; develop improved tactical awareness, attend sports science and nutrition workshops, and be given advice on development as a team player. There will be ongoing assessments during these sessions, with the coaches picking the final sixteen players from the development centres, so creating the Partnership Squad.

The Partnership Squads will receive an extra 4 hours training before they go and represent South Yorkshire at competition. Regional selectors will be attending these competitions to identify talented players to continue through the England Hockey player pathway.
