Meet Our Board

The Partnership is currently governed by an Interim Partnership Board, whose Chairman is Councillor. Roy Miller, Barnsley MBC. The Interim Board, which is in place until March 2011, is tasked with ensuring that the Partnership operates to the highest standards applicable to organisations who access and use public money. In addition, the Interim Board is also responsible for guiding the Partnership towards its establishment as an independent company by March 2011. The primary roles of the Interim Board are outlined below:

  • To ensure the effective transition of the County Sports Partnership from a hosted body to an agreed independent body by 31st March 2011.
  • To oversee the stages of that transition and to advise the Chair and Director on the most effective actions required to achieve successful transition.
  • To oversee the revision of the Partnerships core operating policies and strategies and refresh and align these with the new direction of the Partnership.
  • To ensure implementation of the South Yorkshire Sports Partnership policies, principles and strategies.
  • To act as a strong advocate for the development of sport in South Yorkshire.
  • Endorse and approve internal and external projects and initiatives that meet the objectives of the partnership.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the partnership.
  • To manage appropriate budgets and identify sources of external funding to support the work of the partnership.
  • Through allocation of portfolio responsibilities ensure that each Interim Board member plays and active role in the work of the Partnership.
  • To satisfy itself that the partnership and its staff are managed effectively and appropriately and are able to perform key tasks and functions as required.
